 Democratic Services Advisor

  • Get close to council decision-making
  • Engage with Councillors, officers and the public
  • Apply your strong organisational and communications skills

We are looking for an Advisor to join our Democratic Services team.  Working in a challenging and stimulating environment, you will engage directly with Councillors and officers to achieve effective decision-making in Council and committee meetings.  You will also provide advice on democratic matters, including meeting procedures, official information requests, and elections, and will undertake project work.

You will be confident and tactful in dealing with Councillors, officers, and the public. You will demonstrate your effective communications skills, attention to detail and planning in your work, and will also be comfortable in “thinking on your feet” when the need arises.   You will have the ability to understand complex documents and discussions and be able to extract and summarise the key points made in meetings.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small, committed team that is at the centre of Council decision-making.  If you would like to discuss the role please contact Francis Ryan, Manager Democratic Services, at 04 830 4248.
