Biodiversity Advisor, Projects – fixed term/secondment opportunity

 

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Biodiversity Advisor - Projects to join our Biodiversity Department.  The duration of the fixed term/secondment opportunity is for six months, 20 hours per week.

The role of Greater Wellington Regional Council's Biodiversity Department is to provide a coordinated approach to delivering biodiversity outcomes to the Greater Wellington region, in accordance with the Greater Wellington Regional Council Biodiversity Strategy. 

 

In this position you will:

* Help plan and deliver a range of biodiversity-related projects and events

* Work with community groups on delivering their activities on the ground

* Help develop biodiversity advocacy material including publications and website content

* Contribute to the development and implementation of other programmes and projects as directed 

 

To succeed in this role you will need: 

* An applicable tertiary qualification (e.g. ecology, environmental management) or equivalent experience

* A minimum of 2 years' experience in ecological restoration and/or community engagement. 

* Ability to plan, implement and monitor programmes within budget

* Ability and willingness to work as part of a team

* Skills in coordinating programmes and/or resources

* Experience in facilitating groups to define and work towards shared objectives 

* Project management experience

* Excellent writing skills 

* Knowledge of the Resource Management Act and an understanding of the Council's role

* Understanding of the importance of building and maintaining positive durable working relationships both internally and with external stakeholders
