Monitoring Assistant – Casual

We have an exciting opportunity for a student in their third year of a relevant Bachelor of Science degree to assist Greater Wellington Regional Council's Environmental Science Department over the summer.

Based in our Wellington office, this role will be predominantly based around our potentially contaminated land register and groundwater starting mid-November. In addition there will be opportunities to assist with the collection of samples for our groundwater state of the environment programme.

Key tasks will include:

  • Provide assistance with identifying sites to be included on the GWRC potentially contaminated land register, this will include the review of historical imagery


  • Provide assistance with the digitisation of hard copy information held on files for the sites included on the potentially contaminated land register


  • Assist with identifying bores in our region that are supplying drinking water to a number of users


  • Assist with the processing of groundwater quality data and quality assuring incoming and historic data

To be successful in this role you will need a basic level of experience with GIS, a willingness to engage with members of the public and the ability to work independently.
