We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Resource Advisor to join our Team, where we pride ourselves in providing a fantastic experience to our customers, and to meaningfully contribute to achieving great environmental outcomes for our region.

As an experienced RMA or compliance practitioner, you will be adept at balancing the interests of a wide range of customers and stakeholders to come up with pragmatic solutions to complex resource management challenges.  These solutions will contribute to GWRC's community outcomes of a strong economy; healthy environment; and a connected, resilient and engaged community. Naturally, you will be a skilled and confident communicator who can build strong and enduring relationships with our customers and stakeholders in a range of settings.

You will be part of a team who manage a variety of consenting work – providing you plenty of opportunities including leading complex cases across the entire resource consent process, from pre- application advice right through to compliance and enforcement.


To succeed in this role you will have:

  • practical experience in the RMA and planning disciplines 
  • experience working with councils, central government, private practice/consulting firms, community groups, iwi or volunteers
  • a collaborative working style, with experience mentoring and sharing your ideas with others
  • excellent interpersonal, engagement and relationship-management skills
  • the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, to prioritise competing commitments and proactively manage customer expectations 
  • an analytical mind to critically review reports, plans and other technical documents, and to suggest improvements to our practices 
  • the ability to remain focussed on outcomes rather than process
  • understanding and experience of influencing behaviour change
  • a proven track record of successfully delivering to customers.
