We are looking for an enthusiastic science professional to join our team to help make a difference across the Wellington Region. If you have a strong understanding of science and great communication and strategic thinking skills, this could be you!

As Greater Wellington Regional Council prepares to implement a new Natural Resources Plan and moves towards catchment-based approaches, a skilled science coordinator is essential. You will be working closely with across the Council, external research providers and Mana Whenua to coordinate diverse science disciplines to reach better environmental outcomes for the Wellington region.

 

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant science discipline and at least 5 years experience
  • Knowledge of the key environmental issues of the Wellington region
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti and Te Ao Māori, including tikanga, and Te Reo
  • A high level of project management experience, experience with meeting project deadlines
  • An ability to think strategically, and to develop a strong organisational focus
  • Skilled at communicating effectively – particularly listening, writing, and networking with diverse groups and individuals
  • Experience in coordinating various natural resource science disciplines and articulating the information in complex resource management issues
  • A high level of presentation skills and ability to tailor science to a wide range of audiences
  • Understanding of Social Science and collaborative processes.
