We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Change and Communication Manager with proven experience to join our project team on the Optimus Programme. You'll be highly capable and passionate with outstanding relationship management, business communications and delivery skills, with an ability to set up and oversee training to enable a system implementation and roll out.

We are looking for someone to come in and have the ability to carry out change activities to ensure that the desired new behaviours are adopted across GW.  From a change management perspective, the scope is more than a “system implementation” challenge.  As complementing the need to have staff “driving” the new system, is the need for a change in management behaviours across Greater Wellington Regional Council relating to Finance and HR management.  For some, this will be a substantive change.  You will have the ability to work flexibly and manage communication channels to and from the business to support the Change Management objectives and maintain robust engagement with the rest of GW. 


What you will be doing:

  • Working with senior managers and Executive to develop and then implement a pragmatic change management strategy.
  • Developing and delivering a change management strategy that ensures managers are executing their full responsibilities around financial and HR management.
  • Co-ordinating the change and delivery plan by engaging with a diverse group at GW
  • Enabling readiness by ensuring communications, processes and new ways of working are understood and managed.
  • Ensuring our people are correctly driving the new system and following the correct processes.
  • Be responsible for setting up and overseeing the training of our people.
  • Being able to schedule the delivery of the initiative amongst key operational windows to ensure minimised disruption to business as usual and key projects/milestones.


Your ideal background:

  • Experience leading a significant Change project.
  • Experience in developing change strategies that will maximise adoption and minimise resistance in relation to the desired new behaviours.
  • Proven experience in roll outs and implementations of new initiatives (business & technology).
  • Effective and pro-active management of impacts and issues that comes with a new way of working.
  • Understanding of a Change Management framework or methodology.
  • Experience in managing and carrying out communications.
  • Experience, or the ability to, develop and oversee the implementation of a training plan.
