Greater Wellington's Regional Transport Department has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to take the lead in building and managing relationships with key regional partners, iwi and stakeholders. You will enhance and maintain our department's presence, performance and reputation across the Wellington Region and within our organisation. While this role has a strong relationship management focus, you will also provide high quality strategic transport advice to colleagues, stakeholders, senior management and politicians as required.

We need a highly personable individual with an aptitude for thought leadership and influence, and a collaborative working style that inspires others. The successful applicant will have: 

  • Graduate degree in relevant field
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to target messages to the audience at hand
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • A broad understanding of the machinery of government and how the transport sector can influence economic, environmental and social outcomes
  • Politically savvy, comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Strong initiative and a “can do” attitude
  • Warm and inclusive working style
  • Facilitation skills and experience
