The Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) is looking for a PMO Senior Advisor, in our dynamic and versatile Programme Management Office based in Wellington.


The Programme Management Office provides oversight of project and programme activities across all the Business Groups. The role ensures project staff members have fit for purpose project management processes and tools, enabling project managers to successfully deliver their projects while providing visibility through appropriate governance, reporting and assurance.


This role involves taking a leadership role working alongside the PMO programme Manager and with the PMO Coordinator to ensure that the PMO's core functions and service are effectively delivered.


The role will leverage off your strong relationship management skills and require engagement with individuals through to senior management encouraging project management good practice both through modelling and coaching. 


To be successful in this position you will ideally have:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a PMO role and/or programme management or project management experience and a tertiary qualification including programme or project management accreditation.
  • Have specialist knowledge of, and experience, with establishing and providing ongoing technical expertise and support functions in the PMO.
  • Executing Programme and Project Management disciplines and processes, including the latest developments in techniques and practises.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and communicate across a wide range of diverse groups and facilitate workshops as required.
  • Skilled with use of Microsoft applications Project, Excel PowerPoint and Visio, and Project Server or similar PM platform.
  • Commitment to providing a high level of customer service.
  • Highly motivated and energised and able to work autonomously and deliver to agreed time frames.
  • Comfortable, capable and experienced at presenting to groups including practitioners through to senior executives and Council.
