Factsheet

  • Apply your strong organisational and communications skills
  • Engage with Councillors, colleagues and the public
  • Get close to council decision making

We are looking for an Advisor to join our Democratic Services team.  You will be working in a challenging and stimulating environment, engaging directly with Councillors and colleagues to achieve effective decision-making in Council and committee meetings.  Additionally, you will provide advice on democratic matters, including meeting procedures, official information requests, and elections, and will undertake project work.

Confident and tactful in dealing with Councillors, officers and the public, you will demonstrate effective communications skills, have exceptional attention to detail and be well-organised in planning your work.  We are looking for someone who is comfortable “thinking on their feet” when the need arises.  With the ability to understand complex documents and discussions you are able to extract and summarise the key points made in meetings.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small, committed team that is at the centre of Council decision-making.  If you would like to discuss the role please contact Sandra Kelman, acting Manager Democratic Services, on 04 830 4171.
