Fixed term opportunity in central Wellington to 30 June 2020

Do you want to drive improvements in Public Transport information across the Wellington region?  Have you proven experience in understanding, supporting and enhancing complex distributed information systems?

If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join our Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) ICT team.  This is an exciting time to join us as we focus on improving the information we provide to our Public Transport customers, operators and other stakeholders across the Wellington region.

As well as being responsible for the essential tasks which keep our Public Transport information systems running smoothly you will also be challenged to bring your ideas and experience to make improvements, expected to provide top notch support when the unexpected occurs and make meaningful contributions to some significant planned system changes and upgrades.

You will be working closely with our wider GWRC ICT team, the Public Transport teams and our System Vendors to implement changes to GWRC information systems.

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • A graduate degree preferably in Information Science or IT
  • 3 to 5 years' experience working in IT roles.
  • An understanding of ICT software development life cycles, support processes and project methodologies (ideally Agile, ITIL and Prince2)
  • Strong ICT technical analysis and basic testing skills with a logical and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Experience working with internal and external ICT customers in a support role
  • Curiosity to learn about specialist application systems in the Public Transport area
  • To be a proactive individual, capable of self-managing your workload
  • To be motivated and willing to drive tasks to completion.
  • Clear, articulate communication skills
