Experienced Marketing and Communications leader wanted to join our Customer Engagement team

Are you a skilled communicator and leader with experience in social marketing and behaviour change, who can juggle competing business priorities in an exciting and fast-paced environment?

Right now, we need people who can turn their thinking into solutions for the future of an even Greater Wellington.

There's a lot more to us than meets the eye. Here at Greater Wellington Regional Council, we're working on the big things that will impact everyone in our region. Ensuring we have uninterrupted access to drinking water, staying safe from the threat of flooding, protecting and enhancing the environment, improving the quality of our fresh water, ensuring we are all connected through our public transport network and planning ahead for the potential impact of climate change across our region. We're people who are genuinely passionate about the work we do, because we believe what we do counts.

About the role

Our Customer Engagement team is looking for an experienced marketing and communications practitioner to lead a team that proactively advises on, influences and produces marketing and communications for the Catchment and Environment Account. This is a large, complex account and you'll use your strong influencing and negotiation skills to connect dots across the account, ensure work is prioritised in line with reputation building opportunities and business priorities, and triage and allocate workload across your team of three. You'll lead the development and implementation of a Customer Engagement plan for the account, which will have a strong focus on behavioural change and social marketing.

You'll lead the Catchment and Environment (C&E) marketing and communications account team to:

  • champion the customer's voice internally and manage the development and delivery of insights-driven marketing and communication strategies and plans for our C&E stakeholders
  • identify reputational risks and opportunities and associated workflow management
  • bring our account management model systems and processes to life in the C&E account
  • be recognised as a high performing supportive team with a strong relationship, planning and delivery focus.

A bit about you

You'll have outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, be curious and not afraid to ask questions, and have a passion for the environment. You'll have expertise and a proven track record in developing and delivering a customer-focussed, insights-driven marketing and communications strategy and solutions that span stakeholder, community and customer engagement.  You'll be known for your exceptional attention to detail and your ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with a calm and considered approach. Experience in local government is preferred, but not essential.

Our benefits

We provide a diverse range of benefits including flexible working options that help our staff balance their own lifestyle and needs with their work commitments. We're also all about growing our people through professional development and experience across everything the council does.
