Greater Wellington Regional Council is involved in a joint project with Predator Free Wellington to eradicate predators from the Wellington Peninsula.  We are reinventing what it is to be a field worker in conservation by taking an eradication right into the heart of the capital city.

We have two fixed term positions available for Field Operators to be involved in this project, eradicating rats, stoats and weasels right in the heart of the capital city. Based in Wellington, the roles are fixed term until June 2023.

We are looking for a team player who can demonstrate:

  • a high level of physical fitness able to carry heavy pack weights
  • proven experience in pest animal management and/or relevant tertiary qualifications
  • experience or an interest in vertebrate pest animal management
  • experience in and a passion for the outdoors and wildlife
  • excellent communication skills
  • good public relations skills and an ability to work with a wide range of individuals and organisations
  • sound knowledge of our native biodiversity
  • intermediate knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, systems and GPS units
  • ability to investigate, plan and carry out allocated technical tasks with minimal supervision and direct other staff.

You will need to be self-motivated and have a current full drivers licence.
