We are looking for a Resource Advisor to join our friendly Environmental Regulation department. For the right candidate a Senior position is available.  This role is permanent, based in our modern, new office in central Wellington.

About the role:

You'll be working in a team that undertakes RMA consenting and compliance, primarily associated with municipal water takes and wastewater and stormwater discharges, landfill and cleanfill and air discharges. You'll help implement our compliance monitoring programme, undertake enforcement and education, and participate in our environmental incident response service.

To succeed in this role you will have

  • Practical experience in a compliance or regulatory space (preferably directly with RMA implementation, or you may have experience with key sectors e.g. rural industry, forestry, earthworks, three waters
  • A broad perspective from the breadth and depth of your experience which may include working with councils, central government, private practice/consulting firms, community, iwi or volunteer groups
  • A solutions focused and collaborative working style, with a proven track record of successfully delivering outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal, engagement and relationship management skills
  • Resilience, flexibility, and an ability to work to strategic goals
  • The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, to prioritise competing commitments and proactively manage expectations from a wide range of people
  • An analytical mind to critically review reports, plans and other technical documents, and to suggest improvements to our practices
  • An understanding of and respect for te ao Māori and tikanga
  • An understanding of how to influence behaviour change
