We are looking for 2 x Emergency Management Advisors to join our dedicated and committed Community Resilience Team. Both are  full-time roles based in either Lower Hutt or the Wairarapa.

About the role:

The Emergency Management Advisor's role is to reduce the impact and enable the community to be better prepared to respond effectively and recover quickly in an emergency. Specifically, this role is to deliver the outcomes of WREMO's Annual Plan and the Wellington CDEM Group Plan. 

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience in Community Development, Urban Planning, Education, Disaster Risk Management and/or a related environment.
  • Enjoy working with and supporting people to realise their ideas.
  • Experience working in teams / building effective working relationships.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and interactive skills.
  • Positive and focused on innovative solutions.Willing to go the extra distance in support of team/community outcomes.
  • Confident speaking in public.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and potentially stressful situations

The Wellington Regional Emergency Management Office (WREMO) is a semi-autonomous body, administered by the Greater Wellington Regional Council, tasked with leading and coordinating the effective delivery of Civil Defence Emergency Management on behalf of the region's nine councils.
