We're looking for a Marketing and Communications Advisor to join our dedicated and committed Business and Development Team. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until June 2024, based in Wellington.

About the role:

The Marketing and Communications Advisor at the Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO) is responsible for providing strategic and operational marketing and communications advice and support, across all media channels, for WREMO and the Group Emergency Coordination Centre.

Skills and experience required:

  • Some experience working with media and the development of media releases (desirable).
  • A tertiary level qualification, preferably in marketing and communications (desirable).
  • Experience delivering effective and innovative marketing and communication campaign with a notable focus on digital.
  • Experience managing successful social media campaigns, and a solid understanding of social marketing.
  • Some experience with In Design and other Adobe Creative Cloud products (desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb information, analyse situations, take advice, formulate strategies and plans, then implement and evaluate outcomes.
  • Some experience working in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times (desirable).
  • Experience in a high performing organisation or team characterised by good planning, systems, and achievement.
  • Success at building effective relationships with staff and key stakeholders designed to harness the synergies that come with partnership.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, motivation and advocacy skills.
  • Proven experience leading a concept through to delivery.
  • Extensive skill in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good people leadership skills.

The Wellington Regional Emergency Management Office (WREMO) is a semi-autonomous body, administered by the Greater Wellington Regional Council, tasked with leading and coordinating the effective delivery of Civil Defence Emergency Management on behalf of the region's nine councils.
