The Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) operates in a dynamic and diverse environment. Its operations span highly commercial activities such as public transport, to environmental protection and regulation.

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Advisor. This is a newly created role within the Corporate Services Group at GWRC.

 

About the role:

The Corporate Services Group provides a range of centralised services to the broader organisation. The Group incorporates a centralised finance team, ICT team, programme management team, legal and procurement team, asset management and property function.

 

You will lead a small procurement team responsible for providing support to all parts of the organisation, on a wide variety of procurement matters.

 

No two days will be the same, you will be constantly challenged and presented with opportunities to add value. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Development/implementation of procurement strategy, policy, guidance materials  and procedures

 

  • Delivering the programme of work required to support the organisation's understanding and implementation of the procurement strategy, policy, guidance materials and procedures

 

  • Leading a small (growing) team of procurement advisors that will be appointed over time to support the organisation to implement the procurement strategy, policy, guidance materials and procedures

 

  • Be the subject matter expert for Public Transport procurement

 

The position reports to the Manager of Legal and Procurement.  You will also work closely with the project management office, the legal team and the broader Corporate Services team.

 

This role is located at GWRC's Walter Street offices in Te Aro and is a full-time role.

 

Skills and Experience required:

 

  • Formal qualification in procurement or comparable experience in a similar position.

 

  • Knowledge and experience with New Zealand local/central government procurement requirements and procedures.

 

  • NZTA qualification as an evaluator is desirable but not a pre-requisite.  

 

  • Experience in local or central government procurement is desirable but is not a pre-requisite.

 

  • Excellent written and oral communication and an ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
