Nitrate management on the Hautere Plain
Search in document library
Intensive land use may cause significant adverse environmental effects
on groundwater quality in underlying and downgradient aquifers. One of
the effects of land use currently receiving increasing attention is the
increase in nitrate levels resulting from agricultural and effluent disposal
activities.
Once land use data is available the relationship between land use,
hydrogeology and groundwater quality can be investigated to identify the
sustainability of current land use practices.
