Warm Wellington Scheme

What is Warm Wellington? 

From 2010 to 2024, Greater Wellington’s Warm Wellington scheme assisted homeowners to create warmer, healthier, and more energy efficient homes. Homes built before 2005 qualified for financial support to upgrade insulation and enjoy a more comfortable living environment all year round. If you lived in the Masterton district you were also able to apply for funding for a heat pump.

Through this region wide programme, homeowners were able to access up to $5,000 (excluding interest) in funding, repaid simply through targeted rates over nine years. With a fixed 7% interest rate, it was an easy and affordable way to improve your home – and feel the benefits from day one.

The Warm Wellington loan scheme was closed to new applicants in September 2024 due to changes in legislative requirements, and other funding options available in the market. Existing loans approved prior to Sept 2024, continue to be supported with repayments through the targeting rates system.

Complaints about Warm Wellington

If you have raised a complaint and we cannot resolve it to your satisfaction,  you can contact the Financial Services Complaints Limited – A Financial Ombudsman Service (FSCL). They are an independent, not-for-profit, external dispute resolution service approved by the Minister of Consumer Affairs.
