Join us for a magical night under the stars at Queen Elizabeth Park!
Bring the family along for a magical night under the stars at Queen Elizabeth Park! We’ve teamed up with the Wellington Astronomical Society and Wellington Tramway Museum to bring you a special FREE stargazing experience in one of the best spots in the region for night sky viewing.
Away from the city lights, Queen Elizabeth Park offers a dark sky perfect for spotting stars, planets, and constellations. Your dark sky experience will start with a nighttime journey on a historic tram before being greeted by Astronomical Society experts to guide you through the night sky. You’ll learn why it’s important to protect our dark skies from light pollution. You can look through telescopes for up-close views of the Moon, Southern Cross, and more.
Marshmallow toasting, hot drinks and a fun glow wall activity will also be available to keep everyone warm and entertained in between telescope viewings.
Come along to discover the beauty of the cosmos and learn from passionate stargazers—no experience needed!
This is a free event however numbers are limited and booking is essential. Registrations for the two sessions opens at 10am on Wednesday 29 April via the link below.
